We had our 3rd Annual Salisbury Golf Tournament this year with windy conditions, to say the least.  For those who participated, thank you for joining us. I believe fun was had by all as we tried many antics to get the ball into the cup. We had closest to the pin, closest to the line and even “Beat the Pro” on one of the par 3’s. As the event continued to The Host Pub & Grill, many stories were shared over food and drinks with many prizes presented. The weather is warming up and so am I for golf season!  The grounds aren’t ready yet, so let’s watch the pros at The Masters! The PGA Tour presents The Masters 2011 Golf Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia on April 7 - 10, 2011. The Purse will be $7,500,000.00 or more, not to be announced until Saturday.

The 2011 Masters field consists of 93 professionals and 6 amateurs, from a total of 22 countries.

The Major League Baseball World Series is happening and it all starts this Wednesday night - it’s the San Francisco Giants -vs- the Texas Rangers!

World Series

About The World Series

The World Series has been the annual championship series of the highest level of professional baseball in the US and Canada since 1903.  It is played between the American and National Leagues champions.  The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best of seven playoffs and the team is awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy.  The winning team also receives a proportion of the gate receipts from the series.

The New York Yankees of the American League have played in 40 of the 105 World Series and have won 27 World Series championships, more than any other Major League franchise.  The Brooklyn/Los Angeles team from the National League have played in 18 Series, and won 6 times (once as Brooklyn and 5 times as Los Angeles).  The St. Louis Cardinals have represented the National League 17 times and have won 10 championships, the second most of any Major League Team.  The Chicago Cubs have played the most seasons without winning the World Series, with their last championship in 1908.

A chance to be in the Second Annual Salisbury Team “kind of golf” tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, August 11th at Heritage Woods Golf Course in NOTL and will be followed up by delicious complimentary food and drinks at J. Rocks at 6:30 PM in the That’s Entertainment Plaza on Lake St. in St. Catharines.

We will have a shotgun starting at 4:00 PM.  Remember, this is a fun event and not just for the serious golfer.  We will have fun games on each of the holes, some of which you may not even be using a golf club!  So bring a fun loving attitude with you that day.

There are 32 teams that have qualified for the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa. They will play in 8 groups, with four teams in each group.

After the group stage of World Cup 2010, two best teams from each group will play in “Round of 16″, each team will play one match. Winners will then play quarter finals, semifinals and then, the World Cup final match will be played on 7th of July 2010!
